Ol Pejeta Conservancy in a nutshell
Ol Pejeta Conservancy lies in Laikipia County in Kenya. You reach it by road through Nanyuki, near Mount Kenya. It has been a conservancy since 2004 and covers roughly 360 kmยฒ. A not-for-profit company manages it, and cattle ranching runs alongside conservation. It is not a Kenya Wildlife Service national park, so it has its own fee list.
The conservancy is best known for its rhinos. Najin and Fatu, the last two northern white rhinos, live here, along with southern white and eastern black rhinos. Najin, Fatu, Sudan and Suni came from Dvลฏr Krรกlovรฉ in the Czech Republic on 20 December 2009. Sudan, the last male, died on 19 March 2018. In July 2026 the conservancy counted 190 eastern black rhinos. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary gives a home to rescued chimpanzees, which are not native to Kenya. Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino are all among the animals, but no visit can promise to show you all of them.
This guide covers park fees, safari and game drives, day trips, activities, the rhinos and chimpanzees, wildlife, Nanyuki, the equator, the Laikipia plateau, places to stay, weather, getting there and history. Prices are for 2026 and can change.

Our picks: Ol Pejeta tours
The flight option saves the long road from Nairobi, and the two- and three-day safaris give you several game drives and a night in the conservancy. The day trips cost the least, but the park entry is paid on top on most of them, so look at what each card says.
Hand-picked tours, booked through GetYourGuide. Prices are indicative starting prices in US dollars (as of October 2026). Tap a tour for live availability and the current price in your currency.

Northern white rhino research continues
Najin and Fatu are the only two left, and natural breeding is no longer possible. By April 2026 there had been 6 embryo transfers, and none had led to a lasting pregnancy. Najin and Fatu โ
Entry rules for Kenya
Since 5 October 2026, most short-term visitors need Kenyan state travel health insurance, and the eTA application includes it. An eTA usually takes about 3 days, and a lead time of 2 weeks is advised. Many nationalities are exempt under the 2025 rules, so check yours.
