Where to stay near Ol Pejeta
There are three main choices. You can stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Nanyuki, in a lodge or camp inside Ol Pejeta Conservancy, or on one of the conservancy's own campsites. Each changes your day: the further from the gate you sleep, the more of your morning goes on the road.
This page describes the types and the camping rules, and it does not rank individual properties. Room rates are set by each property, so check them with the place you choose. If you prefer your transfers and entry arranged, compare the Ol Pejeta day trips and safaris first.

Nanyuki hotels and Ol Pejeta camps compared
What each kind of stay means for your day.
| Stay | Where | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel or guesthouse | Nanyuki town | Shops, meals, a wider choice of rooms | Daily transfer to the gate, and entry paid each day |
| Lodge or camp | Inside the conservancy | Early drives and evenings among the animals | Rates and meals differ by property |
| Campsite | Inside the conservancy | Self-catering trips | Armed ranger required, fees extra |
For most visitors with a driver, a night or two inside the conservancy is the better choice. It removes the daily gate transfer and lets you drive in the hours when animals are most active. Choose a town stay if you want to see Nanyuki, or if you plan to climb Mount Kenya next.
