Ol Pejeta safari: your options
You can do an Ol Pejeta safari in your own vehicle. Self-drive is allowed. If you prefer a driver guide, the conservancy hires out vehicles with one. Day game drives run within the visitor hours of 07:00 to 19:00. Night game drives are a separate, organized activity that you book in advance.
Entry covers a regular game drive. The vehicle fee, a driver guide, night drives and tracking activities are extra. Fees are on the park fees page.

| Hired vehicle with driver guide | 07:00โ19:00 | KES 28,000 half day, KES 35,000 full day, per vehicle | Entry is charged separately |
| Night Game Drive | 19:00โ21:00 or 21:00โ23:00 | $70 adult, $35 child, plus entry | Book ahead, minimum 4 people, shared vehicle |

Rules on an Ol Pejeta game drive
They protect the animals and keep sightings fair.
Speed and tracks
Drive no faster than 40 km/h and stay on the tracks. Give animals priority. Do not chase them and do not feed them.
Leaving the vehicle
Get out only at designated places. Wherever you are, keep a safe distance from the animals.
Sightings
At most 6 vehicles may watch an animal at once, for no more than 10 minutes each. Be ready to move on.
No private night driving
Driving yourself after 19:00 is not allowed. The organized night drive is the only way to see the conservancy after dark.
Drones and firewood
Fly a drone only with permission. Do not collect firewood. Campsites supply it. The tourism helpline for emergencies is +254 713 912 324.
What you can see on safari
Good chances, no guarantees.
Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino are all among the animals of Ol Pejeta, so the Big Five are possible, but no drive can promise to show you all of them. Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, cheetah and hippo also live here. Details are on the wildlife page.
Animals move across the landscape. Special crossings let elephants pass into neighbouring conservancies, and they are built to hold rhinos back. Ol Pejeta is linked to its neighbours by wildlife corridors, so what you see on a given day changes.
The two last northern white rhinos live in a guarded enclosure. You do not meet them on a normal self-drive. A separate guided visit costs $70 per adult. Read more on the northern white rhino page and in the activities list.
If you plan a longer trip, Samburu has its own guide: Samburu safaris.
